German tuner DMC has announced a new package for the Ferrari FF it calls Maximus. But the optics proposed here are appealingly subtle.Using a 3D scanner to match its carbon body panels perfectly to the FF, DMC will add a new aerodynamic kit set to include new bumpers, side scoops, rear diffuser, trunk spoiler and a rear wing.

The front nose will also be longer and sharper and the weight savings will amount to a substantial 70 kg (154 lbs) as the 3D scanner allows for the carbon parts to replace existing panels instead of being bolted on.The real maximization takes place under the hood where DMC says it will add twin superchargers to the 6.0 liter V12 engine of the Ferrari FF.

Coupled with a stainless-steel sport exhaust with 90 mm tailpipes, a new intake manifold, larger fuel-injectors, high-flow air filters and a large intercooler, the FF Maximus will boast a total of 888 PS (653 kW / 876 hp) and 862 Nm (636 lb-ft) of torque - up a whopping 222 PS (160 kW / 225 hp) and 179 Nm (132 lb-ft) over the series edition.

0 to 100 km/h will take just 3.2 seconds and 200 km/h is reached in 9.1. Top speed will be beyond the 340 km/h (211 mph) mark. For the ride, DMC plans on lightweight rims - 21-inches at the front and 22-inches at the back wrapped in Pirelli Pzero tires - lowering springs and a front-axle lift system.

What is it? A hybrid based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. How serious is Ferrari about hybrid power? Ferrari calls the HY-KERS Hybrid a “vettura laboratorio,” or research vehicle, so don’t expect to see this particular car make it to production.

© blogautomobile.fr
It is more of a test bed for future technology that will be applied across the Ferrari product line. “This sort of technological challenge has been in the Ferrari blood since forever,” Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s chairman, said in introducing the first “green” Ferrari. “We want to build a hybrid with huge power and huge performance. Within three to four years, every Ferrari in our lineup will offer some version of hybrid operation.”

It would appear that hybrid technology is the new black at the Geneva Motor Show this year, with even Ferrari getting in on the act with their HY-KERS model. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano the ‘vettura laboratorio’ (experimental vehicle) has an electric engine coupled the a 7-speed F1 style transmission providing over 100hp to complement the car’s familiar V12.

Ferrari has unveiled its HY-KERS experimental vehicle at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, the hybrid concept hints at a greener future of the Italian automaker.

Designed to help Ferrari comply with future CO2 regulations, the HY-KERS concept boosts the 599′s overall fuel economy, but particularly helps the supercar in city driving. Thanks to the F1-derived gas-electric system, the HY-KERS hybrid boast 35 percent fewer emissions than is gas-only counterpart.

At the heart of the HY-KERS is an electric motor weighing in at 88 pounds. Attached to the rear of the 599′s seven-speed F1 transmission, power from the electric motor is applied seamlessly via either of the gearbox’s two clutches. The electric motor is good for another 100 horsepower over the V12′s standard output.

Electric power is stored in a lithium-ion battery pack, mounted low in the 599′s chassis to keep the car’s center of gravity low. A regenerative brake system recharges the on board batteries, with an engine-mounted generator taking care of ancillary duties, such as power steering, power-assisted brakes and air conditioning.

Ferrari failed to release any performance specs for the HY-KERS, but says the car “maintains the high-performance characteristics typical of all Ferraris”, thanks in large part to a 1 horsepower gain for every kilogram added to the vehicle’s weight. A production version of the HY-KERS is expect sometime around 2015.

There are mixed reports going around at the moment on what Ferrari is up to here. Some say that the company is testing a ‘shooting brake’ Ferrari 612 derivative, while others say it is simply a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti successor with rather exuberant camouflaging.

These photos, captured by Shawn and Shonna for CarPix around Maranello, Italy, aren’t very revealing but it is quite possible that beneath all that sheeting over the rear end might hide a wagon-like shooting brake design.

Power is expected to be provided by a 6.0liter V12 engine that generates a massive 533hp and 434 Lb-ft of torque. Engine is to be mated to an F1-derived 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Supporting the V12 is an electric motor that adds 100 additional mules to the racer. The electric motor not only takes the power tally to 633hp, but reduces the successor’s fuel consumption by 35% on one hand and ensures that successor’s CO2 emissions doesn’t go beyond 280 grams of per kilometer on the other.

Ferrari will unveil the car at the Geneva Motor Show in March. We look forward to bringing you more definite information then, if not prior.
