yamaha gladiator

I completed my Bike’s 1st service on 5th Feb. 09. I can write 2 different reviews, one about bike & second about the Cheater Dealer, He tried to cheat me but couldn’t do it as I had
visited with friend who acted as witness. Let’s keep the dealer away for now & move towards bike.

Literally before buying Yamaha GladiatorSS I was reading reviews on mouthshut.com about a month of Honda Shine, Glamour, Bajaj XCD, and Yamaha Gladiator SS.

The reason for my approach towards Gladi is I had taken ride of this bike of my friend many times & I found it very controlled & smooth than other bikes. But my final decision was depend on the reviews and recommendation of members on net,
Yamaha Gladiator SS
cause I hadn’t ride other bikes, as I was new learner too. While riding this bike you feel lots of Power in your hand with proper control. Braking is also excellent and effective, I rarely use front disc brake but when use it definitely saves me.

Yamaha Gladiator 165cc

Boys will be boys, and at any given day they will swoon over a bike. And now bike lovers are getting their mean machines modified to match their dream machines – Hayabusa, Yamaha R1, Honda CBR and Harley Davidson.Sumesh Suri, consultant with an American Company owns an Enfield, which he got modified. He has given it a ‘chopper’ look. It is called chopper because the frame of the bike was chopped into half and then extended by 18 inches. Suri spent around Rs 70,000 to give his bike a personal touch. Atul Rahi, CEO of Metal Leopard is a bike modifier – someone who can breathe life into your dream machine. He says, “The bikes in question are often new and sometimes straight out of the showrooms. The charges for modification are anything between Rs Rs 50,000 and Rs 85,000. People also come with their own designs.”

Yamaha Gladiator 165ccModifications are of two kinds, partial or complete. In partial modification, only certain parts are changed. For instance, increasing the wheelbase means increased grip on the road but that decreases the average of the bike. In full modification, the bike is totally transformed into the replica of the bike the customer wants to have. The bikes they get for modification are generally Enfield, Yamaha Enticer, Avenger, Eliminator, Pulsar, Karizma, Fiero. But who are these bikers? It is the 25-30 lot, and they generally want to modify the alloy wheel, side view mirror, tyres and shockers.

And for this, people are ready to shell out anywhere from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 on the modification of their bikes.”

He says, “I don’t care about the average of the bike because when I can spend so much on the bike means that I am concerned about its look.” The average of the bike certainly comes down but this is not something bike lovers are bothered about. After all, good things come at a price.

The riding position is very good. Very contented and hard work seats and you can ride it all day without stress and strain in your body. Higher segment bikes do not to give enough meaning for the console of the pillion rider, but Gladiator’s customer seat is as contented as the former one.

What I feel: When I had a test drive of the bike, I felt that it is just another 125cc bike. Except for good looks, there is nothing remarkable in the engine, but it definitely makes a good choice for upgrades from 100cc range. If you need very good mileage and are not satisfied with the pickup of a 100cc segment bike, this one is for you!

Higher segment bikes do not to give enough importance for the comfort of the pillion rider, but Gladiator’s passenger seat is as comfortable as the former one.

Engine & Gear: The bike comes with a 5-speed gear box which gives enough pickup to get ahead of other bikes when the signal turns green and great mileage for highway cruising. It is a perfect blend for both the highway and city riding conditions. The engine gives an output of 11 bhp at 7500 rpm which is quite good for a 125cc bike.

Yamaha Crux Bikes

Here comes the assessment of the standard 100c segment bike – The Yamaha Crux. To sum it up, I am extremely pleased with this bike. I can daringly say that this is the best bike in this category.

The bike has the major engine in its category evaluated to the engines of Hero Honda CD Dawn and Bajaj Platina. The bike is even even at high speeds, thanks to Yamaha’s engineers! Users have accounted that there had not been any starting trouble with the engine so far even in cold conditions. Yamaha Crux bike gives a mileage of 65kmpl in cities and up to 75 – 80 kmpl in highway riding circumstances. The maximum safe speed that one can in general attain is 90 kmph. Even though it can be obligatory to higher numbers, I wouldn’t counsel it.

Crux S sports the typical plain look of economy segment bikes with the fairing-free front side. New decals and stylish graphics have rendered a new look. This bike is not advertised enough and it has not been considered as a choice by many. Given its low price, Yamaha cannot spend huge amounts on advertising. But it is a little gem which comes loaded with low cost, good mileage and decent looks. With Over 4 lacs bikes already sold in India, Crux is winning the hearts of entry level buyers.

Its ergonomics is perfect — the handlebar reaches up to the rider along with the well placed seat and footrests. The seat itself is accommodating and the ride quality is fine. Handling is neither outstanding nor worse, which can normally be expected from this class of bike. This lightweight motorcycle can snake through the busy streets of city. The Crux S corners well with the skinny tyres though the brakes are to be improved. With the rural friendly big fuel tank, it gives 60kmpl and can run 0-60km in just 11.7 seconds with the top speed of 91kmph.
